Whether you write your own copy or hire a copywriter, don’t focus on the FEATURES of your product or service. Focus on the BENEFITS.
I’ll say that again – switch from a FEATURES focus to a BENEFITS focus.
What do I mean?
Features are things like 3 45-minute coaching calls a month and unlimited email support.
When you’re asking someone to part with their hard-earned cash, they want to know the BENEFITS.
In other words, the classic “What’s in it for me?”
If you or your hired copywriter can address this in your sales page, email blast, or mailed brochure, you will start getting more sales.
Here is an example of BENEFITS — from a program of mine.
During your Plan Your Awesome Book VIP Day, we will:
- Create a crystal clear vision for the book you want to write, including:
- A title: I’ll help you craft an enticing, industry-appropriate title that attracts your ideal readers, so you can feel confident while marketing your book.
- An approximate word count: I’ll help you decide your approximate word count in accordance with your goals and industry standards, so you don’t waste your valuable time writing a book that is too long to publish in the format of your choice and turns off your readers.
- A sketch of your chapters and their titles: I’ll help you determine what goes into each chapter, so you can feel confident that everything you write has a purpose and will serve to give the best overall picture of you and your expertise.
- Uncover hidden challenges that may sabotage your ability to write (and publish!) your awesome book.
- Craft a writing schedule and deadline for your first draft to be ready for editing.
Those are concrete benefits, benefits which by the way my clients enjoyed, and helps answer the question of, “What’s in it for me?”
